New And Exciting Events Planned At This Year's Missouri State Fair

The month of August has officially arrived and this time of year brings us the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. “It’s a Show Me Thing”, the theme for this year’s fair, will run from August 11 through August 21. This year you will not only find the traditional events but also a lineup of new and exciting entertainment as well. From the seniors, to the members of the military, to the youngest members of your family, everyone is sure to find something new and exciting at this year’s Missouri State Fair. On a busy day of the fair, the population nearly doubles in the city of Sedalia and goes from approximately 25,000 people to 45,000 people. The state fair benefits the local retailers in Sedalia as well as providing nearly 700 new jobs for area residents during the duration of the fair. “The fair significantly impacts the economy of Sedalia. We have a huge impact on the sales tax that is generated in the month of August. Hotels are booked well in advance and most times they are booked a year in advance. We average 340,000 visitors throughout the eleven days of the fair,” stated Tammie Nichols, former Warsaw resident and Marketing Director for the Missouri State Fair. Regular admission tickets are $8 per adult, $2 for ages 6-12, free for 5 and under, and $6 for ages 60 and over. The fair organizers have worked hard to create many ways to save on admission tickets throughout the fair. “There are so many special offers, promotions and coupons available that no one should be paying regular admission to get into the fair,” commented Nichols. The first day of the fair is Thursday, August 11, and the opening day two buck bonanza. The admission is only $2 for all ages 6 and up. The fair offers several days of $1 off of admission as well and included in this promotion is Pepsi Day on August 13; coupons are available using the Pepsi can promo code at mostatefair.com/Pepsi . August 20th is Youth in Agriculture Day; coupons are available at County Extension offices, and August 15th is Farm Bureau/Farm Family Day; coupons for $1 off of admission are available at County Farm Bureau offices. August 16th is Missouri Farmers Care Food Drive Tuesday. Ford Company and Missouri Farmers present this day in order to benefit the Missouri Food Bank Association. From 7:30AM until 4PM, guests can save up to $4 on gate admission with a canned food donation. Drop by your local Ford dealer now through August 15th and bring in a canned good for your $1 off coupon. Canned goods will also be accepted at the Centennial Gate entrance.

About a thousand people brought their kiddos out to enjoy the carnival-style activities, including train rides, face-painting, bounce-houses and even a silent auction. Creek View is working to build up resources including, literacy resources, grade-level monetary gifts to assist with supplies and activities, and play yard covers for play ground equipment.
