inTechnology Distribution signs agreement with GAB Enterprise IT Solutions

Specialist networking distributor, inTechnology Distribution, has tied up an exclusive international licensing and distribution agreement with German-based GAB Enterprise IT Solutions.

As per the agreement, inTechnology will be given rights for the distribution of GAB Enterprise IT Solutions’ Wi-Fi based Ekahau Real-Time Location Solution (RTLS) software agent designed for the iPhone, Android and Windows CE.

The Ekahau RTLS agent is a client for its Real-Time Location System (RTLS) and implements the primary functionality and the duress alarm features of the Ekahau T301-BD Wi-Fi tag. It also supports RTLS messaging and instant notifications to and from iPhone, Android and Windows CE devices. inTechnology Distribution managing director, Mark Winter, said the partnership generates substantial opportunities for the company and its local and international Ekahau partners as the RTLS market is booming.

He stated that it is one of the biggest trends arising from the wireless space.

“We have seen a substantial expansion in the type of users deploying Ekahau’s Wi-Fi based RTLS over the last few years, including schools deploying for duress alarms and asset tracking; Retail to track their cleaning/security staff and mobile barcode scanners; Hotels to track their maintenance staff and porters through to hospitals and age care facilities tracking medical equipment, patients and for Personal Duress Alarms for their staff,” Winter said.

Because of the amount of mobile devices deployed, the requirement for Wi-Fi has become more prevalent across multiple industry segments and the end users are driving the Wi-Fi requirements for businesses, he said.

From a channel perspective, Winter said it was just a part of the opportunity for its partners; the company had started seeing a trend of partners trends moving towards the IP video environment.

“Partners are able to go out and sell more than just Wi-Fi, they can also sell the additional product and services,” he stated.

Winter concluded that healthcare institutions need to deploy such systems today following the recent events at Blacktown hospital.

That the partnership aims to assist such institutions in lowering the costs of their deployments by running the technology on their existing mobile equipment.
