While strolling through the festival, you'll be entertained by a variety of live musicians; all are required to compose and perform their own original music. Tall Ships sailings, storytelling, food booths and a wine and beer garden will add to your enjoyment.

Is it a break even to purchase a charter yacht?
After owning and paying maintenance on our own boat, (sold the boat) we have been chartering all over the world with Moorings, and are looking into the wisdom of purchasing a charter yacht. Husband is an accountant, and he thinks at best case scenario, IF we can sell it after 5 years, it could be a break even. Does anyone know how easy or difficult to sell a 5 year old Moorings boat? Would love to hear from others who have gone this route. I have to say the last charter at BVIs I was disappointed in the maintenance, but that is another story. I don't think it is easy to break even, but can be done. I made a little money on a 37' in the Moorings fleet in Tonga that I owned years ago. It came to about 2% return on investment. However, the purchase price had been reduced, I worked at marketing most of my owners time, and I moved the boat to a secondary charter fleet after the Moorings contract ended. Most charter boat owners do it for the pride of ownership. It is might make financial sense if you use all you owners' time for sailing vacations and count the charter fees saved. Or want to depreciate a boat before converting to personal use. Right now I own my second charter boat, a 51' sailboat in the Anacortes Yacht Charter fleet close to where I live. I am beginning to doubt that I will come out ahead even with doing most of the maintenance myself. The season is just too short here. However, I bought at what I think was the low point in the market, so if prices go up, there is hope for me.
