We always knew we had the best customers in the world, not to mention the best staff members, and seeing everybody together last night was indeed the “icing on the cupcake,” of which we were pleased to give away more than 2,200 of them last night!In the four short years Coccadotts Cake Shop has been open, we’ve been blessed in countless ways, and many more are in the “baking,” thanks to the unyielding support of our customers. More than 3,000 bakeries submitted audition tapes to participate in “Cupcake Wars,” however, they called us! It was a phone call, and an experience, Matt and I will never forget.
Of course we feel badly we did not win or get further, however, we are still very proud of the fact that we made it to Hollywood in the first place. You live and learn, and we learned a lot. The airing last night was the first time that Matt and I got to see the show so it was exciting, emotional, humbling, and certainly interesting to see how the show was edited into its final version.
We also want to sincerely thank our more than 11,000 Facebook fans that have posted some great comments about the party, and about our cake shop. You guys rock!
As noted, many great things have happened since we first opened our doors and we strive to continuously improve every day. For instance, starting today, our brand-new, ground-up website is live and in the coming month, customers will be able to order custom bakery items on our new site (www.coccadotts.com), or via your web-enabled phone (how cool is that?), and we will gladly ship them anywhere in the continental United States! Additionally, as we announced at the viewing party last night, we will opening Coccadotts II in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in the coming months and are beyond excited.
Lastly, I want to thank everybody for their patience and understanding over the last few months when contractually we could not tell them about the taping of “Cupcake Wars” or the show’s outcome. It was one of the most difficult things we ever had to do, but well-worth it.

KUCHING – The issue of using Golden Churn Creamy Butter in making Sarawak layered cake has continued to haunt the food product’s entrepreneurs and traders.
The latest is a Sarawak layered cake distributor in Selangor who claimed that she was threaten by a customer who stated that the Sarawak layered cake is a pig cake and anyone who sells it will be jailed.
The continuous negative perception towards the production of the product among customers is feared as it will cause many entrepreneurs and traders of the Sarawak layered cake to ‘roll up their mats’ (business is not doing well).
Concerned with that development, the Sarawak Layered Cake Entrepreneurs Association (PPKLS), today met with Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office, Datin Fatimah Abdullah to voice the problem being faced by traders.
PPKLS President, Rabiah Amit said, although her party had given assurance of not using ‘Golden Churn Creamy Butter’ but customers still have a negative perceptive towards their product.
“Some traders even conduct ‘samak’ processes on their utensils used to make their layered cake to regain customers’ confidence however they still failed to convince Muslim customers.
“Yesterday a Sarawak layered cake distributor in Selangor told that she was threaten by a customer who said that Sarawak layered cake is pig cake and anyone who sells it will go to jail,” she said here today.
Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department (JAIS) previously confirmed that ‘Golden Churn Creamy Butter’ contains pig’s DNA.
Rabiah continually told, many reservations received by entrepreneurs and traders since early Ramadan month was cancelled due to negative perception towards Sarawak layered cake.
Meanwhile, Fatimah suggested that Sarawak layered cake entrepreneurs should display the ingredients used to make the layered cake in front of their shop as a short term precaution to parry customers’ negative perception.
According to her, entrepreneurs who still have not obtained a halal certificate from JAIS and Department of Islamic Advancement of Malaysia (Jakim) should take the initiative to obtain it.
